1.  WHAT DID LIFE LOOK LIKE BEFORE YOU FOCUSED ON CONSISTENCY ON NUTRITION AND FITNESS?

I am stunningly unathletic. Seriously. I was born with no athletic ability whatsoever. That, combined with a complete lack of competitive spirit means I was fairly inactive for most of my adult life. Luckily my job as a teacher at a nature preschool means I get to spend a lot of time outside and I spend most of the day on my feet. I also love a good hike outside, or a game of bags or Kan Jam.

2. What made you decide to make a change?

I’ve learned so many specific things about taking care of myself. Before the Warehouse I had never heard of foam rolling. Now I use my foam roller after every class. Before the Warehouse I had tried yoga, but never really connected to it. Now I take yoga classes 1-2 times a week and my daughter Anya joins me! My first Warehouse class I lifted 2, 3 and 5 lbs weights and had no idea what I was doing. Now I lift 8, 10, and 12 lbs weights and I know the proper form!

3. What has changed (attitude, energy, weight, habits, priorities, race times, blood work, confidence, etc.?)

Showing up consistently. This was always a challenge for me most of my life when it comes to working out. Showing up can be hard and it gets even trickier during the school year when I have to drive through rush hour traffic after working a long day, but I am most proud of my ability to show up. It helps that the classes are fun and so many other Warehousers are funny and friendly!

Also, my confidence in my physical abilities has grown and that trickles into my life in other ways–this summer I completed a Mud Run with my co-workers! Also, my husband Eric and I started taking Pickleball lessons. Yes, we chose a sport predominated by golden agers, but we all have to start somewhere–and it’s good fun!
