1.  WHAT DID LIFE LOOK LIKE BEFORE YOU FOCUSED ON CONSISTENCY ON NUTRITION AND FITNESS?

In a word, like a yo-yo. I’ve always been one to lose and gain weight, over and over. I have tried several different types of diets and exercise regimens over the course of my life. As I would imagine like many others, so much time, energy, and focus has been on my weight. Once I hit menopause, it became more difficult to keep weight off, and I started to experience health related issues such as high cholesterol and pre-diabeties. This was something new to me. I have had the great fortune of being an overall healthy person. Through my work, I was evaluated on a health scale of 1-5, 1 being the ‘worst’. The goal in this program is to gain HSA dollars by being evaluated annually. 3 years ago I was evaluated as a 1.

2. What made you decide to make a change?

I was just so sick and tired of ‘dieting’. I knew, especially because I was now in my 50’s, that something had to change. Not only was I tired of focusing so much on weight, but I knew I had to start thinking more about my overall health and wellness. I now have a new granddaughter that has really given me a fresh outlook, and motivation to do all I can to see her grow through the years.

3. What has changed (attitude, energy, weight, habits, priorities, race times, blood work, confidence, etc.?)

3 years ago, I was evaluated through my work and given a health score of 1 (out of 5). Because of Covid, I was not evaluated until recently. I am now at a health scale of 5. I contribute MUCH of this to The Warehouse. I actually love coming to work out. I love the classes, variety, instructors, and atmosphere. Every time I step on the mat, I have a sense of acceptance, like I’m in the right place. There is so much encouragement and so little judging. I feel stronger, more flexible, and more confident that I am on the right path. It has been so encouraging for me to meet so many members that have been coming for years. I really do admire their dedication, and I hope I can become that motivation for someone else some day.
