1. What did life look like before The Warehouse? What past experiences shaped your views on health, fitness, nutrition, and wellness?

Growing up, everyone in my family was pretty active and it wasn’t something I really thought about. I remember accompanying my mom to her aerobics classes and doing Sweatin’ to the Oldies videos with my grandma. However, in high school things shifted; my mom put me in Weight Watchers and being active became more about weight/appearance rather than something fun/healthy. In college, I rediscovered working out for myself and my mental health; but there are still times when I struggle with maintaining balance. I tend to go through phases of activities (kickboxing, BodyPump, marathon/triathlon training, cycling, etc.) because I like trying new things but also get bored of the same thing after a while. I’ve learned I am able to be more consistent with group exercise classes, especially if I have friends who will wonder where I am if I don’t show up.

2. What has your experience been like since being part of The Warehouse? What have you learned? What has helped you grow or evolve?

I joined The Warehouse after the pandemic when Lori was bringing Oula back indoors and had started teaching at The Warehouse. Even though I had danced with some of the same people previously (at the Y or outdoors), after joining The Warehouse it felt even more like a community. The biggest takeaway from joining The Warehouse has been the sense of community; even sharing conversations with people that don’t take the same classes – everyone seems so welcoming and supportive.

3. What has changed for you (attitude, energy, habits, priorities, race times, blood work, confidence, etc.)?

Just the sense of comfort I have in coming to or even teaching a class. I feel like I’m in a room with friends and that people are there supporting each other rather than competing or comparing themselves to one another. It feels like a safe space to be myself – whatever that means that day (loud, quiet, uncoordinated, silly, flirty, angry, etc.).

4. What is your favorite Warehouse workout song?

This is hard, because there are so many good ones and it changes depending on my mood; but my consistent go-to is Only Love (Shaggy/Pitbull).

5. What is your favorite workout class?

Oula

6. What is your favorite quote?

Be loud and take up space.
